Basic Philosophy

I believe in respect for individuality. I feel it is my job to inspire and motivate my students so they truly love to learn. I believe students learn by doing and I try to engage my students in hands on activities that have meaning. I believe I must provide an academic program for all learners.

I teach traditional disciplines: Reading, Math, Language, Science, Social Studies and Art.

It is my belief that interaction with one another develops social virtues such as cooperation and tolerance. I try to provide and reinforce positive interactions. These skills build confidence and are as essential as learning the curriculum. I strive to provide safety, security, nurture and love to my students. My goal is to help all of my students be responsible for learning and ultimately achieve their full potential.

Discipline

Our class rule is: "Do not do anything that hurts or bothers yourself or someone else." I usually give a gentle reminder for the first infraction of the rule. If the student continues I ask him/her to change their color from green to red. At the end of the day, all of the greens get a small reward. If a student continues to break the rule, they will be given a problem solving paper to fill out and take home for a parent’s signature.
